While the pandemic has canceled many important moments in our lives, our mission to end breast cancer isn’t canceled, and neither is our 2021 Komen Pennsylvania MORE THAN PINK Walk which will be held virtually this year on Sunday, May 9.

For decades, many of us have celebrated Mother’s Day with Komen — and we’re thrilled to be back in 2021! This year, we are inviting our participants, teams & sponsors to Walk Where You Are on May 9, because the women and men facing breast cancer need our support now, as much as ever. Whether it’s emotional support via our helpline, financial support through our treatment assistance program, or help navigating their care journey, we must continue to be there for them.

New This Year — Pink Week!

Starting Sunday, May 2, each day we will commemorate and honor all those who have gone above and beyond in their 2021 Komen Greater Pennsylvania MORE THAN PINK Walk fundraising efforts — all benefiting breast cancer survivors and those living with the metastatic disease in our community and nationwide.

Monday, May 3 — Monday Memorial

We remember the beautiful faces, the stories, the triumphs and the tragedies. This Mother’s Day, we will pay tribute to past participants — walkers, runners, team captains and volunteers — who have lost their lives to breast cancer. We will honor these individuals through photos in the Virtual Remembrance Tent. We invite you to contribute to this project to honor your lost loved one.

Tuesday, May 4 — Research Pillar Sponsored by UPMC

The Research Pillar provides new hope through lifesaving discoveries! Monies raised at the MORE THAN PINK Walk are funding breakthroughs that give more time to everyone in their fight against breast cancer. Get to know local researchers, Drs. Steffi Oesterrich & Adrian Lee. Dr. Lee & Dr. Oesterrich are Komen Scholars who lead a lab at University of Pittsburgh focused on improving the lives of those diagnosed and treated for breast cancer.

Learn more about Dr. Lee, Dr. Oesterrich, Komen Scholars Program.

Wednesday, May 5 — Care Pillar Sponsored by Wawa

Through the Care Pillar, we ensure everyone has access to quality screening, diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer. When it comes to breast cancer, knowing your family history can help you understand personal risk and take action as needed. The Susan G. Komen Family History Tool was developed to easily record and organize family health history to have on hand to discuss with your doctor.

Thursday, May 6 — Community Pillar Sponsored by People First Federal Credit Union

If you love sharing photos, today People First Federal Credit Union is Putting YOU First! It’s time to take part in the Mosaic Wall! Post your favorite photos from past MORE THAN PINK Walk and Race for the Cure events to the Virtual Mosaic Wall here, and browse the fun collection of contributions from other participants. We are a beautiful, connected mosaic of supporting survivors, metastatic patients, friends, caregivers, family and co-survivors!

Friday, May 7 — Action Pillar

Together, through the Action Pillar we are fighting for government funding and critical patient support and research. There are many ways to make a difference. Learn more about different ways you can get involved — including becoming an Advocacy Insider.

We fight for the rights of patients among policymakers and know advocacy efforts will lead us to a world with improved, compassionate care for everyone!

Saturday, May 8 — Chalk Your Walk

It’s time to Chalk Your Walk! Take a stroll in your neighborhood, draw your best pink ribbon on a public sidewalk, and share to social media with the hashtag #WalkWhereYouAre — encouraging friends to donate to your Komen Pennsylvania MORE THAN PINK Walk efforts!

Sunday, May 9 — MORE THAN PINK Walk Day

This Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 9, connect with your Komen community online for a day of inspiration.

Our Virtual Program will stream from Facebook and YouTube at 9 AM and then we invite you to #WalkWhereYouAre.

Then — Walk Where You Are! Count your steps, take photos and celebrate what we’ve achieved together, making an impact on the fight against breast cancer!
