Development Manager, Western PA

Where are you from originally? Where do you live now?

I grew up in Syracuse, NY but moved to Pittsburgh in 1987 as my dad moved our family here to open the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott. I graduated from Mt. Lebanon high School and attended WVU studying Mass Communications (TV) and Media. I Spent over 15 years as a hospitality sales executive in mostly hotels here in the Burgh. Meeting my husband in 2013, who was ill with Hepatitis C (now cured!), caused me to pause and I decided to move my career efforts to the nonprofit sector. I volunteered, became a board member and then the Director of Development for the Community Liver Alliance. I also was the Associate Director of Events for the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater PA. I currently live in Heidelberg, PA and represent the Western side of PA for Komen.

Tell me more about yourself. Why Susan G. Komen Pittsburgh?

When the opportunity to work for Komen Pittsburgh was offered to me I was thrilled! Thrilled because for over 30 years, Komen has led the way funding groundbreaking research, community health initiatives, and advocacy programs in local communities across the U.S. and in more than 30 countries. When you consider that 1 out of 8 women receive a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime, joining Komen felt important. Now, Komen of Greater PA is part of ONE Komen, and it makes my day to deliver our mission directly to constituents who need us.

What do you like to do outside of Komen?

I’m the proud mom of Zach (23), Geno (21) and Fiona (17). My husband, Dean, is a chef so I eat very well 😊 — therefore, I love walking, spinning and gardening my free time away.

I’m excited to represent Western PA and Pittsburgh — It’s a BURGH thing!
