Mary Ellen, of Levittown, PA is no stranger to the Komen mission. In 2011, Mary Ellen was captain of the Bucks County Breast Friends 3-Day Walk Team where they were named Top Fundraising Team raising over $50,000! Mary Ellen walked with her daughter, Emily, by her side and step by step — even with blisters and co-sleeping in a tent! They will proudly show you their photo album and newspaper clippings about their Komen memories! We are so happy to have them both with us this year — to create new memories and to add photo to their photo album!

“I was diagnosed in 2010 with stage 3 triple negative breast cancer, I was 44. I had 6 rounds of intense chemotherapy, many hospitalizations, a bilateral mastectomy, and reconstructive surgery. I joined the Komen fight against breast cancer because I know what it’s like and I want to see us make difference in the fight against this horrible disease that affects so many. I am also a nurse and work for an oncology organization and wish to pay it forward because I am thankful for the support from my medical team family and friends. If I can help a newly diagnosed patient, or cancer patient in a positive way by giving them hope through my story it means a great deal to me.”

After being named Breast Cancer Survivor of the Year in 2010 by Susan G. Komen and Saint Mary Medical Center, Mary Ellen went on to appear on KYW 3 Survivor Stories segment and WPVI 6 ABC for Race For The Cure and Komen 3-Day training!

We are so excited to have Mary Ellen and her daughter, Emily, join us for our 2022 East PA MORE THAN PINK Walk! Mary Ellen is the team captain of Alliance Cancer Avengers and serves on our Planning Committee! Mary Ellen’s biggest fundraising tip — reach out to your friends and family to support your cause! Emily, is captain of her team The Bayada Way, in honor of her Mom and her patients!
