Dr. Omene and RWJBarnabas Health Make An Impact in the Fight Against Breast Cancer
Dr. Coral Omene sees the effects of breast cancer on women every single day as a medical oncologist at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, part of the RWJBarnabas Health System. She has dedicated her career, her research and her life to caring for patients, exploring new breast cancer therapies and seeing more survivors.
This year, Omene served as Honorary Chair of the 2017 Race for the Cure., inspiring attendees to volunteer, run and walk in honor or in celebration of loved ones affected by breast cancer. The Race for the Cure is a day dedicated to making an impact in the community by raising funds and awareness, celebrating breast cancer survivorship and honoring those who have lose their battle with this disease.
Omene shared powerful words, praising survivors, metastatic patients and those going through treatment for their tenacity and fight. She emphasized the importance of breast self-awareness and talking to your doctor about any risk factors or changes felt to the breast. Omene commended the hard work and dedication to those who raised money and awareness for Komen CSNJ’s mission, and shared the incredible strides made in the breast cancer field, thanks to Susan G. Komen.
Susan G. Komen Central and South Jersey is proud to work with community partners and leaders like Dr. Omene and RWJBarnabas Health. Together, we work hard to ensure our vision of a world without breast cancer will one day become a reality. Watch the video above to see the inspiring day.
