A Letter to Our Virtual MORE THAN PINK Walk Volunteers

As Komen New Jersey’s Virtual MORE THAN PINK Walk Volunteer Chair, our wonderful volunteers will always have a special place in my heart.

I want to start by saying thank you so much — to you and all of our volunteers — for your dedication, passion and commitment to Komen New Jersey. It has been a pleasure working with you over the years. Talking to each and every one of our volunteers at the Walk is one of my favorite parts of the day, and this year we were still able to gather online from across the state and country to make a tremendous impact in the fight against breast cancer. Working at Amazon, I was able to make a company-directed donation of $2,500, and I know many of you also worked tirelessly to help us reach almost $650,000 raised in total!

This has been a learning experience over the past few years, but you’ve all been there to help and I am forever grateful. I will never like speeches, but talking to all of you is like talking to friends. Thank you for the pictures, the laughs, the cupcakes, the memories and everything else you’ve given me.

Your support means everything to the vision of a world without breast cancer. Susan G. Komen New Jersey is a primary resource for women in a 21-county service area who need breast cancer screening, diagnostic and support services. Additionally, beginning with a single grant for $28,000 in 1982, Komen has now invested more than $956 million in research, making Komen the largest non-profit source of breast cancer research funding outside of the U.S. government.

How can you help?

There are plenty of volunteer opportunities for everyone that focus on Komen’s core mission values of research, care, community and action.

Without the efforts of amazing volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to accomplish even a fraction of what we do today. Whether you’re a survivor, a co-survivor or just someone who cares, we’d be grateful for whatever time you have to offer. Our entire organization, your community and the next person affected by breast cancer thank you in advance.
