5 Pennsylvania BigWigs Teams Raise over $30,000 during Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

The BigWigs campaign kicked off on October 1st at a Pittsburgh Pirates game and ran throughout the month of October. On November 4th, BigWigs and guests gathered together at the Wyndham Grand, not only to recognize the winner of this 4-week fundraising campaign, but to celebrate the collective impact of the five BigWigs teams that raised $30,476.35 in the fight against breast cancer.

During this 4-week fundraising campaign, our five BigWigs teams worked endlessly, pouring their heart and soul into the campaign to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. Molly Sweet, Development Manager of Western Pennsylvania and Chelsea Beecher, Development Director for Pennsylvania and New Jersey — were proud to crown Michele Belice as the ‘Biggest Wig in the Burgh!’ Michele was able to raise $18,000 in just one month!

Congratulations to our five BigWigs teams!

The Belice Squad — Michele Belice — a Real Estate Professional with Howard Hanna Real Estate Services since 1999. Michele is ranked in the top 1% nationwide and the top 2 agents in the Howard Hanna Mt. Lebanon Office. The BigWigs campaign held a special place in Michele’s heart as she is a two-time cancer survivor.

Team Envy Nail Spa — Gwen Tran — migrating from Vietnam in 1992, Gwen opened the first Envy Nail Spa in Mt. Lebanon in 2008. Since then, she has grown to 5 locations including South Fayette, Upper St. Clair, Peters Township, and the new Terminal Building in Pittsburgh’s Historic Strip District.

The Great Clips Goddesses Team consisted of Marie Bates and Catherine Sweet, both franchisees of Great Clips hair salons since 2004. They were able to fundraise in their 5 total salons!

Jonathan Sweet wanted to join BigWigs after learning about the amazing level of support Komen offers the community. Jonathan has friends who are breast cancer thrivers and is an avid philanthropist — volunteering in the community for several nonprofits.

The Pittsburgh Mermaid, a professional actress, professional mermaid and a metastatic breast cancer warrior. Danniella is always ready to make an appearance and talk to the public about the importance of screening for breast cancer.

Gina Steiner, was recognized as an ‘Honorary BigWig’ after raising $4,000!

All the BigWigs should be incredibly proud of themselves. Thank you all and congratulations for making such a significant impact, and having fun sporting amazing pink wigs while doing it!

We are excited to announce that BigWigs will be returning to Pennsylvania for October 2022! And, are thrilled to welcome back The Belice Squad, Great Clips Goddesses, and Jonathan Sweet who have all signed up again!
